As of April 22, 2010, Wisconsin's Lead-Safe Renovation Rule is in effect.

Renovation work is regulated under this rule when performed by someone for hire in any home or any child-occupied facility built before 1978.

If the repairs are minor, with interior work disturbing less than six square feet per room or exteriors disturbing less than 20 square feet, buildings are exempt. Buildings are also exempt if the areas to be worked on test lead-free by a Certified Risk Assessor or Lead Inspector.
